Hi, I’m Catherine. This is my first year being a part of YAYA and I am very excited to be representing the East Coast. Being involved with my church has always been important to me so I can grow in faith and to be involved with such a great community. I believe that being a part of YAYA will help me learn more about the greater church as well as to actively be a part of it. I am hoping to be able to share my experiences with other youth at my church and at Lutheran Camp Mush (where I work) so that they can also learn about the ELCIC and feel motivated to get involved with their church as well.
For those of you who wonder why I do what I do, this is why.

Hi, I’m Sophie. I like the church community because the people you meet change who you are. I’m sixteen and I’m trying to figure it out and I’m meeting people, including those in my church, and they are helping me figure out what I believe and why I go to church. Everybody comes for a different reason. You see all these people committed to helping others and the world around them. It is inspiring. And I want to be a part of that inspiration. For those of you who wonder why I do what I do, this is why.

Hi my name is Vicky! As a youth/young adult, I know the pressures that influence our youth in the world today. I think that the main influence should be a loving, exciting, God-filled community, but unfortunately it is not. The youth and young adults of today need the support from a faith community that knows their needs and lifestyles. Being a counselor at Camp Edgewood, I have found my love of sharing my faith with others and helping them nurture theirs. I am excited about being part of YAYA as the next step in inspiring and energizing the youth, young adults of today’s church!

Hi, my name is John and I believe in the importance of youth ministry. Some of my fondest high school memories are from youth events and I wish that more people could be similarly blessed. Through the church, we become members of a community and can more easily reach out to the communities in which we live. We also become more aware of issues troubling the world and of our role in the global community. As youth and as members of the Church, these are our responsibilities.

Hi, my name is Ben. I believe that as youth in today’s world, it is our responsibility to help and support our communities, our nation, and our planet. It is our job to be examples in the world, and to lead our church into the future, sharing our own ideas and experiences of God. I do what I do because I’m not afraid to be a part of a progressive future with a loving community in faith. For those of you who wonder why I do what I do, this is why.

Hi, my name is Jon. All throughout my youth, the church has been incredibly important to me, for the community it provided, for its guidance and for its generosity. Youth programming and ensuring that a community of Young Adults is available across Canada is key to helping us grow and develop our faith. I am happy to help build this anywhere I can, and my love for the great experiences and friends I've gotten to have thanks to that community, drives me to help continue building it.
