So my son asked me the most embarrassing question as we were leaving a friend’s church. He had attended their Sunday school and as we left he asked, “Mom do we have a bible?” I’m a pastor. My son is baptized and as a part of our baptismal promises we have agreed to place in his hands the scriptures. ACK!!! Yes he does have a bible – in fact a few. I got to thinking and then asked him. Do you know your Message bible? Do you remember your action comic bible? Do you know the story we listen to sometimes on the CD player? Yep. Those are bibles honey. OOOH. We can discover God ‘s word in many ways- a traditional bible with Jesus words in red- sure but also in a child’s story book, a CD , an app. Let’s think about God’s living word in ways bigger than we might once have. We went looking for the bibles that my son had at home and sheepishly I think I am feeling a little better.
