Some good news on a dark day. Sometimes, as we focus on the more grim realities of life, and the real-life issues facing our youth today, we overlook the bright spots of humanity, those Christ-like moments that are happening all around us. So here’s a good news story for today: a young high school runner named Meghan Vogel was 50 metres from the finish line in her state championship race when she saw a runner collapse on the track. Although Ms. Vogel had won an earlier race, this time she was about competing for last place. She could have raced on, but instead she stopped, and helped the runner – who she didn’t know – to cross the finish line ahead of her. Her story has gone viral. Because in the end, this is the kind of world we all seek – one where strangers come to the aid of each other, no matter what.
